Q:

I have hypermobility type Ehlers Danlos syndrome (HEDS) a genetic collagen disorder that causes my soft tissue, mainly ligaments, to be plastic and not elastic. I would like to use cool sculpting to lose the couple inches of subcutaneous fat I have in my belly and upper back. The excess bugle askly causes me extra pain due to myofascial pulls. Would coolsculpting be bad for me with respect to the HEDS? EDS doctors have no clue if this would be a bad idea. Thanks

Hello and thanks for posting.

There is no inherent reason to believe that Cool Sculpting would be a problem for someone with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. One of our staff members actually has HEDS and has been treated CoolSculpting with no problems.

Good luck!

Dr. Pierone
