Gerald Pierone Jr., M.D. has performed over 10,000 non-invasive liquid facelift procedures, using advanced injection techniques, with advanced dermal fillers including Sculptra®, Radiesse®, Artefill®, and Juvederm®. He instructs other medical practitioners in advanced injection techniques for Artefill®, and is recognized by Suneva as the number one injector of Artefill® in the United States. Dr. Pierone practices in Vero Beach, Florida.
Actively involved in clinical research, Dr. Pierone has a special interest in body shape changes and metabolic complications of HIV treatment. He was a principal investigator in the FACES trial of the advanced dermal filler Sculptra® Aesthetic for HIV-related facial lipoatrophy. He is also performing a trial of Artefill®, for lipoatrophy. Dr. Pierone is also performing a longitudinal study of the changes in histopathology of various PMMA formulations in humans.
In addition to his private practice in Vero Beach, Dr. Pierone is also the Founder and Executive Director of the AIDS Research and Treatment Center of the Treasure Coast. This nonprofit medical clinic provides primary health care for patients living with HIV and AIDS.
Dr. Pierone has published numerous peer reviewed reports and conducted extensive clinical research in the areas of HIV/AIDS, antivirals, cardiovascular, and metabolic complications of therapy. Dr. Pierone has been featured in media, such as the Huffington Post, with respect to advanced non-surgical facial rejuvenation.
At the University of Florida, Dr. Pierone received his medical degree. He completed his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Pierone is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Florida State University.
